Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said on Thursday, "I want to make it clear that the recent interview of Lawrence Bishnoi, accused in several cases, was not done from any Punjab jail."
"The interview does not even mention the clash in Goindwal Sahib's jail, so this video is not recent."
DGP Gaurav Yadav had to give this clearance because Lawrence Bishnoi, an accused in the Sidhu Moosewal murder case and several other criminal cases, recently gave an interview to a private channel.
It is being claimed by the channel that this interview has been done from the jail of Punjab, but the Punjab Police and the jail administration are denying this claim.
About 24 hours after DGP Gaurav Yadav's press conference, another video of Lawrence Bishnoi is released by the same private channel. In this video, his gesture is changed. Hair and beard are short.
In this part of the interview, he is also mentioning the Goindwal Sahib Jail incident.
In recent days, Lawrence Bishnoi has also been in jail in Rajasthan, so it is being said by him that the interview was not done from the jail of Rajasthan.
DGP Gaurav Yadav could not answer that if this interview did not take place from a Punjab jail then where did it take place. Now the second part of the interview has raised many questions.
The important question is that Gaurav Yadav is calling Bishnoi's interview out of date and not in Punjab by referring to the Goindwal jail incident, the second part of the interview completely refutes his claim. This is because the Goindwal Jail incident is mentioned in the interview.
On what basis the DGP is saying that the interview did not take place in Punjab
On Thursday, when DGP Gaurav Yadav was addressing the press, different pictures of Lawrence were being shown on the screen.
It was claimed by the police that those pictures of Lawrence are recent. Among them, Lawrence's beard and mustache are quite rare. In the interview, the beard and mustache are quite large compared to those pictures.
According to Gaurav Yadav, Lawrence Bishnoi has been brought to Bathinda Jail from Rajasthan Jail on March 8 and the interview was broadcast on March 14.
According to the DGP, the cell phone cannot be used due to the high-security system in the prison where Lawrence Bishnoi is kept in Bathinda. The jail is guarded by the jail administration as well as the CRPF.
Claiming that the interview was not in Punjab, the DGP says that there is no mention of the recent clashes with Bhagwanpuria and other gangs in Goindwal Sahib Jail.
